Summary

Elections were held in the Australian state of Victoria on Saturday, 25 November 2006 to elect the 88 members of the state's Legislative Assembly and, for the first time, 40 members to the Legislative Council under a proportional representation system.

The incumbent Labor Party government of Premier Steve Bracks was re-elected for a third consecutive term, defeating the opposition Liberal Party led by Ted Baillieu and National Party led by Peter Ryan.
